Seattle Alumni explore the Pacific Northwest

The Seattle Alumni Chapter hosted a snowshoe hike in the Cascade mountains

On Saturday, Feb. 25 the Seattle Alumni Chapter embarked on a six-mile round-trip journey through the winter wilderness trails of the Cascade Mountain Range.

Led by chapter board member, Keegan Johnson ’13, and chapter president, Marty Kelly ’08, the group learned how to walk in snowshoes and deal with the elements. They gained 1,500 feet of elevation on their way through the back country to the summit of Snow Lake and back. The day was full of fun and laughter, and everyone fully embraced the winter adventure.

“Snowshoeing in the Pacific Northwest is a rite of passage, so the Elon Seattle Chapter thought it best to celebrate that passage by providing alumni with the opportunity to explore some of the best winter scenery the PNW has to offer,” Kelly said.

The Seattle Alumni Chapter offers a variety of opportunities for local alumni to connect, build relationships, and stay engaged with Elon. While having strong leadership from the volunteer board, the chapter hosted nine events last year including a Mariner’s baseball outing, park clean-ups, social happy hours, Sounders soccer game, Elon Day Party and community service outings.
