Shannon Tennant, coordinator of library collections, and Jerry Waller, systems librarian, recently gave a presentation about how Belk Library uses its integrated library system to perform data-driven collection evaluation.

Tennant and Waller made the presentation at the second annual WMS Global Community + User Group Meeting in Dublin, Ohio, on September 28, 2017. WMS stands for WorldShare Management Services, and is the official name of library’s catalog software. They discussed a recent project during which librarians used the software’s report features and other data analysis products to assess the collection.

Tennant and Waller talked about the literature review, the methodologies selected and the data visualization tool that allowed for collection comparison with libraries at the local, state and national levels. The librarians also attended several sessions to learn about new developments in the WMS software.
