Elon community gathers to honor the life of Harrison Durant '18

The senior from Arlington, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly.

The Sacred Space in the Numen Lumen Pavilion was filled Saturday night with friends of Harrison Durant, and with stories of how the Elon senior touched the lives of so many before passing away unexpectedly at his off-campus home.

The Arlington, Massachusetts, native was known for his passion for music, computer science and cooking, and for the compassion he showed for his friends. He was remembered as a genuine person  who excelled in many areas, with time spent at Elon beatboxing for the Smooth Progressions a capella group, swimming with friends in Beck Pool or diving into his studies.

Friends remembered spending time outsides suites in Hook, Brannock and Barney Halls, working together in the computer lab or watching the Boston Bruins, a favorite team of Durant.

Students were encouraged to lean on each other during this difficult time as they deal with their grief over a lost friend. Elon Student Life staff members are reaching out to support his roommates, friends, classmates, and faculty members.

Anyone who would like to talk about their feelings of loss or concern for others may contact Counseling Services at 336-278-7280 during regular hours.
