Clark presents on teaching of abstract algebra at Joint Mathematics Meetings

Professor of Mathematics Jeff Clark presented this month at the annual Joint Mathematics Meetings in San Diego.

Jeff Clark, a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, attended the annual Joint Mathematics Meetings held Jan. 10-13, 2018, in San Diego.

While there, Clark attended a meeting of the Mathematical Association of America’s Section Officers as Chair of the MAA’s Southeastern Section (which contains Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee), attended a meeting of the MAA’s Committee on Minicourses where he begins a three-year term as chair, attended a meeting for new MAA committee chairs, attended a meeting of the MAA’s Council on Meetings and Professional Development, monitored three minicourse sessions for the Committee on Minicourses, and presented a paper entitled “Using Galois Theory as a Motivation for Learning About Permutation Groups”.
