Charlotte alumni offer insight into 'what they didn't teach you in college'

The Charlotte Alumni Chapter hosted its annual professional development event with four alumni speakers.

On Thursday, Feb. 15, the Charlotte Alumni Chapter hosted its third annual Elon 102: "What they didn't teach you in college" event.

This special event includes breakout sessions with four alumni speakers, who are excelling in their careers and generously willing to share helpful advice and insight regarding their expertise. The topics included homebuying, mortgage planning, financial advising and budgeting, and social media and personal/professional branding.

The event took place at Advent Coworking, which is a creative coworking facility that includes start-up companies, entrepreneurs, collaborative event space, and art. Elon alumni had the opportunity to network with former classmates and other local alumni, followed by the breakout sessions to learn specific "real-world" lessons and advice from the talented alumni speakers.

Each spring, Elon's largest alumni chapters host professional development events to provide lifelong learning to the area's alumni. Alumni have the chance to learn helpful advice, listen to alumni stories, and develop professionally. These events feature a variety of components such as a panel of alumni speakers, breakout sessions about relevant topics, faculty speakers, professional communication assistance, unstructured networking, and more.

The Office of Alumni Engagement and the Charlotte Alumni Chapter would like to thank the speakers, moderator, and the alumni, who attended, for making this year’s Elon 102 event a continued success.
