A team of Martha and Spencer Love School of Business students competed in Georgetown University’s case consulting competition.
An Elon University undergraduate student team participated in the 2018 McDonough-Hilltop Business Strategy Challenge hosted by Georgetown University Feb. 8-10.
The Elon team was composed of Cecil Moore ’19, a finance and economic consulting double-major from Winston-Salem, N.C.; Caroline Perry ’18, an international business major and Spanish minor from Cincinnati, Ohio; Matt Snow ’18, a finance and entrepreneurship double-major and economics minor from Hudson, Massachusetts; and Evan Strickland ‘19, an entrepreneurship major and finance minor from Atlanta, Georgia. Patrick Bell, lecturer in management, mentored and accompanied the team to Washington, D.C.
The McDonough-Hilltop Business Strategy Challenge (MHBSC) is an international nonprofit case consulting competition organized by Hilltop Consultants, a consulting group at Georgetown University, and primarily sponsored by the McDonough School of Business.
Twenty-four teams were presented with a case about a problem KaBOOM!, an organization that helps communities build playgrounds for children, faces. The teams were given 72 hours to analyze the case and present their unique and feasible solutions to the organization’s problem.
“The Georgetown MHBSC Competition is an amazing experience,” Snow said. “I went last year as well and I’m always impressed by the in-depth nature of case, the fact that the actual non-profit comes to listen to our ideas, and by the competition. As I finish my last semester at Elon, I’ll be doing one final push to promote the Advanced Case Analysis course and to inspire young business students to take on the challenge of future competitions.”
The other participating teams were from University of Pittsburgh, St. John’s University, McGill University, University of Calgary, MacEwan University, The George Washington University, Western University, Emory University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Toronto, Washington University in St. Louis, Florida State University, Fordham University, Simon Fraser University, University of Virginia, and The University of Washington.
