Atlanta Chapter hosts "Communicate with Impact" event

The Atlanta Alumni Chapter positioned their annual Professional Development event to cater towards communication skills.

The Atlanta Elon alumni chapter hosted a professional development event on Feb. 22 called Communicate with Impact and led by Shelley Gaynes P’15, founder of GeeWiz LLC.

The alumni in attendance completed DiSC assessments, which identifies individual behaviors and communication styles to help enhance productivity, teamwork and communication. With Gaynes facilitating, the alumni engaged in a variety of activities to understand the differences of each DiSC style, how to leverage their personal style in working with others, and how to identify other styles in personal and professional settings. These activities included:

  • Reading through individual assessments and identifying where the descriptions complement or contradict personal styles
  • Each Style (D,i,S, and C) presenting to the group about their style – how communication styles operate, general misconceptions, and how best to work with communication styles
  • Assessing famous, popular individuals and aligning them with a DiSC style to understand how to identify styles in others

Gaynes’ company, GeeWiz LLC, is an executive coaching and professional development firm. She is certified in facilitating the DiSC Assessment, which identifies individual behaviors to help enhance productivity, teamwork, and communication.

Following the event, every attendee received a link to the Everything DiSC Workplace online tool, which has a variety of information on how to leverage the DiSC Profile in practice.

The Office of Alumni Engagement and the Atlanta Alumni Chapter thank Shelley Gaynes P’15 for her time, leadership, and facilitation of the successful event.
