Lauren Duncan ’18, a cinema and television arts major, will host a dance film showcase, titled “ReNewed,” on Thursday, April 26, in Turner Theatre at 7 p.m.

During the event, three core films – “Can You Hold Me,” “Paralyzed” and “Red Dust” – will be presented as part of Duncan’s Bachelor of Fine Arts research. The senior’s interest in dance film moved her to participate in the filming of more than 12 projects in the past two years, collaborating with numerous dancers and other filmmakers.

Among the choreographers for the films are Elon dance majors in the Synaesthetic collective, including Julia Goldberg, Alexandra Fung, Minnie Lane, Cierra Seawright and Abby Corrigan. Duncan also invited other filmmakers who participated in the Elon in L.A. program to share their class projects from Assistant Professor J. McMerty’s Entertainment Production class.

The program will run approximately 45 minutes with a reception of light refreshments to follow. Rich Landesberg, associate professor of communications, and Jen Guy Metcalf, assistant professor of dance, served as mentors for Duncan’s project.
