NYC alumni on top of the world

The New York City Alumni Chapter hosted more than 120 alumni at the Observatory Deck in the One World Trade Center.

New York Alumni experienced an incredible social event atop the One World Trade Center on April 19.

While 102 stories above New York City, Elon alumni had the incredible opportunity to see a 360-degree landscape of the iconic city they call home. Alumni were very pleased to witness a beautiful sunset, the city light up and all that New York City has to offer alongside fellow alumni and friends. See what alumni have to say below:

Jaclyn Wood, a member of the Class of 2013, said “I grew up 30 minutes outside the city, have been to the city a few times but never saw New York City the way Elon allowed me to view it that night. It was such an amazing opportunity to see old classmates as well as experience Manhattan at such a historic location.”

David Wood ’13, NYC Alumni chapter president, said It was a night Elon alums will always remember. I currently work in Midtown but because of my work schedule, I don’t have the luxury to enjoy all the attractions New York City has to offer. I arrived at One World Observatory to see a large Elon University flag draped across the 102nd floor. The space was filled with old classmates and friends. I jokingly mentioned how the Elon community brings together so many alums at such amazing venues that we don’t realize the city’s full potential without our events. We are looking forward too many more memorable Elon nights in New York City.

Chelsey McGinnis ’10, NYC Alumni chapter’s president-elect, said This special event allowed Elon Alumni to connect at one of the Big Apple’s most famous landmarks. As the incoming Elon Alumni NYC Chapter President, I definitely encourage our alumni in the NY-metro area to utilize these fantastic events as an opportunity to engage with fellow alums and remain connected to our beloved alma mater.

The NYC Chapter board hopes this event served as an unforgettable opportunity to see and learn about the city while sharing positive moments with the Elon community.
