Belk Library staff present at the Triad Academic Library Association Paraprofessional Conference

Library staff presented and helped plan the Triad Academic Library Association (TALA) 5th Annual Paraprofessional Conference held at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University on May 16, 2018.

Three staff members shared stories about the work we do at Belk Library during hour-long Networking Hour Table Talks: Lynn Melchor, interlibrary loan and reserves specialist, discussed Interlibrary Loan, while Patrick Rudd, coordinator of library instruction and outreach services, and Lynne Bisko, outreach librarian, described fun library programming ideas.

Joan Ruelle, dean and university librarian, and David Woodbury, department head, Learning Spaces & Services at the North Carolina State University Libraries, co-presented on “Yours, Mine, and Ours – Partnerships for Student Success.” They shared their experiences with planning to incorporate new academic success partners in library spaces. The session offered lessons learned about planning, logistics, and trends, along with strategies to help library staff build successful partnerships with their new housemates.

Two staff members, Linda Lashendock, video archives technologist, and Melanie Truitt, library database assistant, served on the conference planning committee.
