Stephen A. Futrell selected as artistic director/conductor for Voices — The Chapel Hill Chorus

Futrell will begin serving in the role for the choral group, one of the Triangle's oldest and most distinguished, this summer.

Elon Director of Choral Activities Stephen A. Futrell will begin his tenure as artistic director/conductor with Voices – The Chapel Hill Chorus for the 2018-19 concert season.

Voices is one of the Triangle’s oldest and most distinguished choral groups with a rich history spanning over three decades.

In addition to the 130-member chorus, Voices also has a smaller, select ensemble, Cantari. Both choruses are auditioned and perform fall and spring concerts often featuring an orchestra and soloists. The Mission of Voices is to foster, sustain, and share the art and joy of choral music and to enrich the Triangle community through excellent performances of music from diverse cultures and historical periods.

“I am honored to have been selected to join with this outstanding organization,” Futrell said. “The interview process was challenging and well-organized, and everyone I met along the way exhibited so much enthusiasm and passion for what they do. Voices is recognized as one of North Carolina’s most outstanding choral organizations. I am truly blessed and am looking forward to working with such a dedicated group of fine musicians.”

A formal press release will be issued by the organization soon. For information about Voices – The Chapel Hill Chorus check out their website: www.voiceschapelhill.org.
