Trustee Tom Chandler named to Carolinas Concrete Hall of Fame

The chairman of Chandler Concrete Company of Burlington, N.C., has been honored by the Carolinas Ready Mixed Concrete Association for service to the industry.

Tom Chandler has been inducted into the 2018 class of the CRMCA Concrete Hall of Fame.
Longtime Elon University Trustee Tom Chandler has been inducted into the Carolinas Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s Concrete Hall of Fame. The award recognizes CRMCA Members who have had a longstanding history of service and leadership within the association. Membership in the Hall of Fame is the organization’s highest honor. 

Chandler served as president of the CRMCA from 1990 to 1991 and was praised for giving “freely of his time through service to the state and national organizations as well as his community.” Chandler founded Chandler Concrete Company in 1973; the business currently operates plants in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. He was honored with Elon’s Frank Holt Business Leadership Award by Elon in 2001.

Chandler has been a member of Elon’s Board of Trustees since 1999. He and his wife, Lynn Chandler, are among the most devoted benefactors to Elon, making numerous gifts to create the Chandler Professional Sales Center in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business and support scholarships, athletics, the Koury Business Center, Belk Library, Elon University School of Law, Schar Center, Rhodes Stadium and the Inn at Elon.

The Carolinas Ready Mixed Concrete Association is a nonprofit industry trade organization established in 1951 by large and small ready mixed concrete producers and associated members in North and South Carolina.
