Elon announces 2018 Alumni Award winners

Five outstanding alumni will be honored at Homecoming Weekend 2018 for their professional success, community engagement and loyal support of Elon.

As part of its annual Homecoming celebration, Elon University will honor five alumni at this year’s Distinguished Alumni Awards Luncheon & Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 2. Since 1941, Elon has presented awards to honor its alumni who serve as active partners, advocates and investors. The Alumni Awards are the highest honors conferred by the Office of Alumni Engagement. 

This year’s winners are:

Distinguished Alumnus of the Year
David Stevens ’81, mid-south division president for SunTrust Banks, Inc., Greensboro, North Carolina
Awarded to an alumnus who has distinguished himself in a profession and in the community and brought honor to Elon.

Distinguished Alumna of the Year
Jill Rose ’00,  senior director and general manager of mid-market at PayPal North America, New York, New York
Awarded to an alumna who has distinguished herself in a profession and in the community and brought honor to Elon.

Distinguished Young Alumna of the Year
Angela Lovelace Walton ’10, product manager at USA Today Sports Images, Roswell, Georgia
Awarded to an alumna who has graduated within the past 10 years and has distinguished herself in their profession.

Distinguished Young Alumnus of the Year
Tony Weaver Jr. ’16, owner and founder of Weird Enough Productions, Lithonia, Georgia
Awarded to an alumnus who has graduated within the past 10 years and has distinguished himself in their profession.

Distinguished Service to Elon
Carter Smith ’92, executive specialty representative for Amgen Inc., Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Awarded to an organization, business, foundation or individual who has demonstrated outstanding service that promotes the advancement of Elon.
