KCSL: Impact Alamance

Volunteers needed to help make city parks tobacco-free.

Impact Alamance, along with Burlington Parks and Recreation and the Wellness Collaborative, is working on submitting a policy to the Burlington City Council requesting that all City parks are entirely smoke-free. Currently, only the children’s areas are smoke-free.

Twenty-five student volunteers are needed to assist in collecting cigarette butts from designated parks through the month of September. All collected cigarette butts will be compiled into a large jar and brought forth at the City Council meeting in October. This is a very powerful visual. Students can go to parks on their own time.
