Kappa Sigma alumni support scholarship fund for fraternity's 45th reunion

The Lambda-Lambda Alumni Association of Kappa Sigma is making commemorative fraternity house sketches available in honor of its 45th reunion.

For Kappa Sigma’s 45th reunion, the fraternity has launched an initiative to rally support for the ‘Kappa Sigma Scholarship’ at Elon. The scholarship is the first to be endowed by an Elon Greek organization at Elon. Since it was established by fraternity alumni in 1999, this fund has offered annual academic scholarships to undergraduate members of the Elon chapter who demonstrate academic integrity and leadership prowess.

Alumni of Kappa Sigma and of Sigma Mu Sigma, Kappa Sigma’s local fraternity forerunner, who post a qualifying gift shall receive a high-quality pen and ink sketch of the fraternity house they remember. Les Hall ’77, the artist who created the sketches, is a former chapter president who lived in Kappa Sigma’s original house.

Since 1963, nearly 1,000 Elon men have called one of three houses their college fraternity home, so donors can choose from prints that depict different times: ‘Neese House’ in the Sigma Mu Sigma era (1960s), ‘Neese House’ in the Kappa Sigma era (1970s), ‘Practice House’ (1980s), and the first Loy Center house (1990s-2000s).

Donors who make gifts by Oct. 15 may pick up their fraternity house commemorative sketches during Elon’s Homecoming weekend Nov. 2-4.
