Sophie Adamson presents at French teaching conference

Sophie Adamson, associate professor of French and chair of the Department of World Languages and Cultures, presented at the annual conference of the Foreign Language Association of Teachers of French in Durham, N.C.

On Oct. 20, 2018, Associate Professor of French Sophie Adamson presented a paper to teachers of French entitled “Stand-up Comedy as a Serious Resource in French and Francophone Studies.”

She showed clips of stand-up acts by thought-provoking comedians Fary, Claudia Tagbo, Shirley Souagnon and Rachid Badouri and shared research perspectives about the benefits to second language learners with pedagogical resources for various levels in the curriculum.
