Elon students win at N.C. vocal competition

The success of the 11 students who competed means they will advance to the Mid-Atlantic Regionals to be held in Maryland in March. 

Eleven Elon students participated in the N.C. National Association of Teachers of Singing Musical Theatre Vocal Competition on November 2-3 at Meredith College.

All of the students were winners, receiving superior scores that enable them to advance to the Mid-Atlantic Regionals which will be held in March 2019 in Maryland.

Hannah Ellowitz, Gianni Palmarini, Nathan Keffer, Cara DiPietro and Tara Willey performed on the prestigious Winners Honors Recital. Billy Summers and Carla Ely, Elon staff accompanists, played for the students. The following students won their respective categories:

Hannah Ellowitz – first place freshmen women – student of Julie Celona-Van Gordon

Skyler Sajewski – second place freshmen women – student of Polly Butler Cornelius

Nathan Keffer– first place freshmen men (tie) – student of Polly Butler Cornelius

Gianni Palmarini – first place freshmen men (tie)- student of Polly Butler Cornelius

Tyler Okunski – second place freshmen men – student of Polly Butler Cornelius

Cara Di Pietro – first place sophomore women – student of Julie Celona-Van Gordon

Sarah Liddy – third place sophomore women – student of Julie Celona-Van Gordon

Travis Flint – Regionals – student of Julie Celona-Van Gordon

Tara Willey– First Place Junior Women – student of Polly Butler Cornelius
