Elijah Junior "Buddy" Evans held various positions during his 31 years on campus and returned to Elon following his retirement to work part-time driving the Danieley Center tram.
Retired Elon University staff member Elijah Junior “Buddy” Evans died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018.
Evans began working at Elon in February 1974 and he held various positions in Physical Plant during his 31 years on campus, including roles in groundskeeping, environmental services and athletics, where he served as the official greeter in Alumni Gym.
During his years of service at Elon University, Evans received the Physical Plant Staff Member of the Year award for 1994 – 1995. He retired in May 2005.
Evans returned to Elon that same year to begin part-time work in Shuttle Services driving the Danieley Center Tram, a role he filled until 2017.
Visitation is Friday, December 21, 2018, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, 2205 S. Church St. in Burlington. The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Alamance Memorial Park.
