Apple Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams to speak at Elon TODAY

Williams, an Elon parent, will visit Elon Feb. 22 to discuss his role at Apple.

 

Elon University will welcome Jeff Williams, chief operating officer of Apple, to campus for a talk about his career in technology.

Williams, father of a member of the Class of 2019, will speak in the Great Hall of the Global Neighborhood at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 22. His talk about his role as COO at Apple will be followed by a question-and-answer session. All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.

Jeff Williams is Apple’s chief operating officer reporting to CEO Tim Cook. Williams joined Apple in 1998 as head of worldwide procurement. Since 2010 he has overseen Apple’s entire supply chain, service and support, and social responsibility initiatives which protect more than 1 million workers worldwide. He also oversees the development of Apple Watch, Apple’s most personal device yet, and is driving the company’s health initiatives including the Apple Heart Study, Health Records on iPhone, ResearchKit and CareKit.

Williams graduated from N.C. State University with a degree in mechanical engineering and earned an MBA from Duke University. Prior to joining Apple, Williams worked for IBM Corp. for 13 years in a number of operations and engineering roles.
