Carroll shares insights on public health/public safety collaborations at national conference

The National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO) invited Jennifer Carroll, assistant professor of anthropology, to present at its annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, in July.

Assistant Professor of Anthropology Jennifer Carroll was invited by the National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO) to share her expertise on public health/public safety collaborations to an audience of public health professionals at NACCHO's 19th Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida.

Carroll, the lead author of the CDC's current recommendations for preventing opioid overdose, spoke at the NACCHO's Drug Overdose Town Hall along with Jeannette Kowalik, Commissioner of Health for the City of Milwaukee, Rebecca Kaufman, Director of Public Health in Broome County, New York, and fellow North Carolinian Lisa Harrison, Director of Public Health for Granville and Vance Counties.

Also in attendance at this year's Annual Meeting was Dr. Jerome Adams, Surgeon General of the United States of America, who has been an ardent advocate of the harm-reduction strategies recommended by the CDC through Carroll's public scholarship.
