Valle receives 2019 Award for Excellence for journal article

The article, "Ethical leadership, frustration, and humor: A moderated-mediation model," was published in Leadership & Organization Development Journal.

An article by Professor of Management Matt Valle and colleagues Micki Kacmar, of Texas State University, and Martha Andrews, of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, has been selected by the Emerald Publishing editorial board as Highly Commended in the 2019 Emerald Publishing Awards for Excellence.

In the 2018 article, "Ethical leadership, frustration, and humor: A moderated-mediation model," the authors examined the effects of ethical leadership on surface acting, positive mood and affective commitment via the mediating effect of employee frustration. The authors also explored the moderating role of humor on the relationship between ethical leadership and frustration as well as its moderating effect on the mediational chain.

For more than 25 years, the Emerald Awards, which have included the Awards for Excellence and Citations of Excellence, have celebrated and rewarded the outstanding contributions of authors and reviewers to scholarly research. The Outstanding Paper Awards have been the backbone of the Emerald Awards for Excellence. Valle has produced 13 refereed journal articles in the past five years and 50 refereed journal articles since coming to Elon in 2000. His work has appeared in Human Relations, the Journal of Business Ethics, Educational and Psychological Measurement, and the Journal of Managerial Psychology, among other publicationsValle also regularly presents papers at the leading conferences in management including the Academy of Management, the Southern Management Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
