Vellani presents to Kazak delegation

Larry Vellani, Elon's director of corporate and foundation relations, made a presentation Oct. 31 to a delegation of Kazak public officials and civil servants at the Capitol Hilton in Washington, D.C.

Vellani discussed “The Role of the 3rd Sector in Public/Private Partnerships.” The Kazaks presented Vellani with a traditional, hand-embroidered Kazak hat and a ceremonial riding whip in appreciation of his remarks.

The Kazak officials were participating in the Administrative Reform Program of the Center for International Development, a program of Duke University’s Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy. The Kazak delegation traveled throughout the Eastern Seaboard for three weeks meeting with public officials, scholars and community activists to gain a deeper understanding of U.S. civil society.

A resource-rich central Asian neo-republic, Kazakhstan is the 9th largest country in the world, stretching from the Caspian Sea in the west to the China frontier in the east.
