Pendulum Online named Online Pacemaker finalist by ACP

The Pendulum Online, the Web companion to The Pendulum student newspaper, was named a 2011 finalist in the Associated Collegiate Press Online Pacemaker competition April 27. The Pacemaker is the highest honor ACP gives its members.

The ACP Online Pacemaker entries are judged by a panel of professionals with extensive online media experience. According to the ACP, successful sites displayed excellence in the following categories:

  • Multimedia storytelling
  • Writing and editing
  • Site design
  • In-depth and complete coverage
  • Interactivity
  • Graphics and photography

The Pendulum was among eight finalists in the “Newspaper 5,000 or Fewer Enrollment” category. More than 250 schools of all sizes entered the contest. Winners will be announced at the Associated Collegiate Press/College Media Advisers conference Oct. 29 in Orlando, Fla.

The Pendulum Online was also named an Online Pacemaker finalist in last year’s competition. The newspaper itself was named a Pacemaker finalist in 2009 and 2010 and won the award in 2009 at the ACP/CMA conference in Austin, Texas. It was the first Pacemaker win for the organization.
