Textile artwork by Carolyn Nelson, director of design in Elon University’s Office of University Communications, is featured in the new book Textiles: The Art of Mankind by author Mary Schoeser.
Nelson’s piece, “Fragment from a Love Story II,” is a silk monoprint, handstitched collage.
Billed as “a comprehensive celebration of the spectacular and enduring appeal of textiles across time and cultures,” the book contains more than 1,000 color illustrations that “that highlight the beauty, subtlety, simplicity, or complexity of textiles created around the world.”
Nelson was named Administrative Staff Member of the Year at Staff Day 2012.
