iMedia students' film named a finalist for UN Festival

Elon University Interactive Media master's students Ashley Deese and Kelsey Sullivan had their film selected by an international panel of judges for as a finalist in the United Nations Forum on Forests contest.

Their film was chosen from among entries from 38 countries, and it will be shown on UN Television and webcast by the organization, as well.

Deese and Sullivan were members of an iMedia Fly-In team that completed http://terraba.org, a web site focusing on the challenges of the Terraba of Costa Rica, who are facing relocation and cultural destruction from a national dam project expected to affect their territory. The film, “Terraba: An indigenous relationship with the rainforest,” used video footage gathered by the team and features an original script and voiceover.

iMedia students do projects for the public good as a part of the 10-month master’s degree program.
