Jeff Carpenter co-authors article on educator professional development via Twitter chats

Jeff Carpenter, assistant professor of education, has co-authored an article titled "Chat it up: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Twitter Chats but Were Afraid to Ask."

The article by Jeff Carpenter and Daniel Krutka is available in Volume 41 of Learning and Leading with Technology and is online here.

Carpenter and Krutka describe educators’ use of Twitter chats for professional learning. Chats are live, one-hour discussions of a particular topic using a common hashtag, such as “#edchat.” There are currently more than 150 such regular, weekly chats for educators on a wide variety of topics.

Carpenter and Krutka describe how such chats function and discuss why many educators find them beneficial.
