Presidential Search update – June 23, 2017

Presidential Search Committee chair Wesley Elingburg P'11 provides details on the status of Elon's search for the university's ninth president.

Dear members of the Elon community,

Elon’s Presidential Search Committee has been working hard since our last campus update, and I write to provide you with a progress report. Thanks to the work of our search consultants from Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates, we are developing a very strong pool of prospective candidates to become Elon’s ninth president. We are pleased with the number of candidates, the quality of their skills and experiences, and the diversity of the individuals who have expressed interest in the position.

We are reviewing candidates who are currently serving as college and university presidents, provosts, vice presidents and deans, as well as candidates from outside higher education. The Search Committee has met three times, and we remain on our original timeline for conducting the search.

As we have stressed throughout this search, we encourage the Elon community to continue to recommend outstanding candidates for consideration. Please direct prospective candidates to the presidential search website (www.elon.edu/presidentialsearch), and don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of the Search Committee or our consulting firm, Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates (www.storbeckpimentel.com) to nominate a candidate. Nominations may be submitted directly to elonpresident@storbecksearch.com.

I appreciate your continued support and interest in the search. The members of the Search Committee are mindful of their responsibility in making this historic recommendation to the Board of Trustees.

Sincerely,

Wesley Elingburg P’11
Elon University Trustee
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
