Multi-institutional research from the Center for Engaged Learning's seminar on Excellence in Mentoring Undergraduate Research featured in a new Council on Undergraduate Research book edited by Vandermaas-Peeler, Miller and Moore.
“Excellence in Mentoring Undergraduate Research” edited by Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler, Paul C. Miller and Jessie L. Moore, features multi-institutional scholarship of teaching and learning projects from the Center for Engaged Learning’s research seminar on mentored undergraduate research.
Published by the Council on Undergraduate Research, the book’s seven chapters feature international, multi-disciplinary projects, with contributors from Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. A preface, introduction, afterword, and two reflections round out the book, helping readers contextualize the scholarship in relation to prior research and varied institutional contexts.
Elon University’s Eric Hall and Caroline Ketcham, professors of exercise science, both have chapters in the collection. Hall’s multi-institutional research team shared their research on salient practices of undergraduate research, and Hall and Ketcham collaborated with other colleagues on a chapter on co-mentoring.
The Center for Engaged Learning maintains a website with supplemental materials to support discussion of the book.
