To celebrate turning 50, the Class of 1962 decided to continue the reunion class gift tradition by giving back to the university they love so much.

For the past three months, members of the reunion leadership team, which include Della Marie Vickers McKinnon ’62, Carol Adams Foster ’62 and Cliff Hardy ’62, rallied their classmates to raise $13,708.

Elon President Leo M. Lambert accepted the gift Friday on behalf of the university during a Golden Alumni Association luncheon in McKinnon Hall.

“The volunteers were wonderful and very active to call their friends and peers,” said Jozi Snowberger ’07, associate director of annual giving. “They did a great job of getting a 49 percent participation rate. We’re very happy with their efforts.”

For Durice White ’09, assistant director of alumni engagement, this is another example of how alumni can be powerful partners, advocates and investors in their alma mater. She said efforts like this one give alumni the chance to reflect on their time at Elon and the impact it has had on their lives.

During the luncheon, the Class of 1962 was officially inducted into the Golden Alumni Association, which includes alumni who graduated at least 50 years ago.
