Wellness table attracts crowd at Benefits Fair

Hundreds of Elon faculty and staff members stopped by the Wellness table Oct. 23 during the Benefits Fair at the Koury Athletics Center.

While employees were at the fair learning about benefit options and talking with representatives, Wellness staff members gave chair massages and flu shots, handed out information and promoted Wellness programs.

“We had people in there constantly,” said Cindy Novak, Wellness coordinator. “We gave 48 chair massages, and we gave about 20 flu shots.”

Many people stopped by the table to get their blood pressure and blood-sugar levels checked and took a shot at winning a prize for knowing how many candy corn were in a jar.

Grants coordinator Jenny Chapman won a 30-minute therapeutic chair massage for guessing 412. She was only off by four. There were 416 pieces of candy corn in the jar.

Wellness staff also used the event to launch a new game “Pay It Forward,” which started Oct. 23 and ends Dec. 10 and encourages random acts of kindness. Contact the Wellness Office staff at ext. 5569 for more information.

“We had a good time,” Novak said.

Open enrollment ends Nov. 2. Faculty and staff must complete the benefits enrollment process online if they would like to add, change or delete benefits. Go to OnTrack to review current elections and to make changes.

The new benefit elections will go into effect Jan. 1. Contact Human Resources at ext. 5560 for more information.
