As we look forward to 2013, we invite you to pause and remember the many milestones our community celebrated in 2012.

Guided by The Elon Commitment strategic plan, the university made great strides as the nation’s preeminent community for engaged learning. Elon led the nation in US News & World Report’s recognition of university programs focused on student success. Elon was named among the leading producers of Fulbright student scholars, the undergraduate business program was ranked among the nation’s best by Bloomberg Businessweek, and Elon University School of Law was named among the country’s most innovative law schools by National Jurist.

New campus facilities opened in 2012, including The Station at Mill Point residential neighborhood; the Gerald L. Francis Center, home of Elon’s School of Health Sciences; the groundbreaking Student Professional Development Center; and new clinic and student spaces at the Elon Law campus in downtown Greensboro.

Elon students got involved and made headlines in the 2012 campaigns through their work on the Elon University Poll and at the Democratic and Republican national conventions. Elon’s expanding programs in Los Angeles and New York led to the formation of the new Study USA program, while the continued growth in Study Abroad programs allowed the university to retain its #1 national ranking in international education.

Many visitors to campus inspired us, including challenging addresses by Nobel Prize-winner Muhammad Yunus and distinguished author Maya Angelou.

Phoenix athletics enjoyed successes such as its first SoCon men’s soccer tournament championship, the awarding of a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship to soccer player and scholar James Carroll, multiple All-American Honors for football standout Aaron Mellette and soccer star Chris Thomas, and the addition of women’s lacrosse as a new NCAA Division I sport.

Above all, we celebrated the tremendous spirit of the students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends who make up the Elon community.
