Elon tennis teams advance to SoCon finals

Both the men's and women's squads compete April 21 for automatic bids to the NCAA tennis tournaments. Matches begin at 10 a.m. for the women and 2 p.m. for the men.

The top-seeded Elon University men’s tennis team advanced to the 2013 Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Championship title match following a 4-1 decision against fifth-seeded Chattanooga on April 20 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
 
Elon (17-7) will face second-seeded Samford on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Earlier in the day, the second-seeded Elon University women’s tennis team swept its opponent for the second straight day, topping the third-seeded Furman Paladins, 4-0, on April 20 in the semifinals of the 2013 Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Championship.
 
Elon (21-3) advances to the SoCon Women’s Tennis Championship title match to face top-seeded College of Charleston at 10 a.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
