Elon University plumbing supervisor Jimmy Curiazza and his family have been honored by the North Carolina chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for their efforts to raise money and awareness in support of research and support for those struggling with the diseases.

The Curiazzas received the recognition June 19 at an awards banquet to thank and recognize all groups that support the chapter.

To date, the family has raised more than $8,000 for the organization, primarily through holiday light shows at its Gibsonville home and from team marathons in which Jimmy’s wife, Tracy, takes part.

Their efforts in recent years honor the memory of Jimmy’s brother, Dean, who died of childhood leukemia during the 1967 holiday season.
