Hinton is a partner with DeLoatch & Hinton, PLLC in Tarboro, NC. After his election to the Edgecombe County Board of Elections in July, Hinton was voted chairman by members of the Board. At 31, Hinton is one of the youngest members in the history of the Board.

“I am delighted to serve as Chairman of the Edgecombe County Board of Elections,” Hinton told The Daily Southerner. “This is quite an honor and I take this role very seriously. The elections process is where the rubber meets the road in our democracy and as chairman of the board, I will do my best to ensure a fair and honest process for all candidates and citizens.”

In addition, Hinton was appointed recently by Governor McCrory to the Board of Trustees of Edgecombe Community College. He was also recognized for service as President of the Tarboro Rotary Club from June 2012 to June 2013. In this capacity, Hinton oversaw significant fundraising and a number of high profile community service projects, including the construction of a 1,240 linear foot “Wetlands Nature Trail” along the southwest boundary of Edgecombe Community College’s campus and the creation of a special committee to conduct a community needs study that will result in a joint venture between civic leaders, municipal government and arborists from NC State University to protect the urban canopy of Tarboro’s town common.

In his law practice, Hinton serves as legal counsel for the newly formed Northeast Carolina Preparatory School, a public charter school, and he primarily practices in the areas of real property and business law. He and his wife, Alicia, reside in Tarboro with their one and a half year old son, James.
