Raul G. Barcenes to guest conduct Honor Band at Murray State University

Raul G. Barcenes will guest conduct the 67th Quad State Senior High School Honor Band in Murray, Ky., on Feb. 20-22, 2014.

Assistant Professor and Visiting Director of Bands Raul G. Barcenes was invited to guest conduct the 67th Quad State Senior High School Honor Band Festival located at Murray State University on Feb. 20-22, 2014. The Quad State Senior High School honor Band Festival is one of America’s oldest honor bands in the United States. Students from around the United States audition to participate in one of four ensembles and will be privvy to masterclasses with some of the worlds foremost music teachers.

Barcenes will join Capt. Kenneth Megan, retired conductor of the U.S. Coast Guard Band, Nicholas Enrico Williams, assistant director of wind studies at the University of North Texas, and Rob Bryant, retired band director at Madisonville North Hopkins High School, as the primary conductors of the festival.

Barcenes’s duties at Elon include directing the “Fire of the Carolinas” Marching Band, the FOTC Pep Band and conducting the “Phoenix Winds” Concert Band. He is in demand as a clincian, consultant and conductor throughout the United States.
