Robert Jennings '17 receives Burlington Industries Foundation Scholarship

Robert Jennings, a freshman business management major at Elon University, was selected to receive a Burlington Industries Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $3,000 for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Burlington Industries Foundation contributed $15,000 of scholarship aid this year to independent colleges and universities in North Carolina. Scholarships were awarded on the basis of the students’ overall merit.

“We are delighted to partner with North Carolina Independent Colleges & Universities and Elon University in providing scholarship assistance to very deserving students,” said Delores Sides, executive director of the Burlington Industries Foundation. “Higher education is a priority of the Foundation and we believe it is an important investment into the future of local students, universities, and communities.”

A. Hope Williams, president of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, thanked Burlington Industries on behalf of the Independent College Fund of North Carolina and the students attending private colleges and universities in North Carolina.

“The Burlington Industries Foundation Scholarship makes an important contribution to higher education, to students and to our future economy,” Williams said. “The scholarship provides critical support to students that helps make a college education possible. We deeply appreciate this scholarship and the difference it makes in the lives of our students and their families.

The Burlington Industries Foundation was established in 1943 for the purpose of providing financial assistance primarily to higher education and other organizations serving communities where large numbers of Burlington employees live and work.
