Smoking cessation classes offered

Faculty/staff Wellness offers free program to help smokers give up cigarettes for good.

Smokers interested in quitting can take a class this spring to help put the cigarettes down for good.

Quit Smart, Duke University’s unique smoking cessation program, is being offered to Elon employees through Wellness. Elon will cover the cost of the program and materials.  All smoking cessation medications are free for those covered under Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The class size is limited to 12 people so registration is required. The classes will be held from noon to 1 p.m. April 23, May 6 and May 7 in the conference room in the R.N. Ellington Center for Health & Wellness. A box lunch will be provided. Participants must attend all three classes.

Quit Smart combines powerful treatments to help smokers break free from cigarettes. Participants will learn a simple brand-switching procedure to ease off nicotine; eight ways to minimize weight gain; new ways to use smoking cessation medication to triple chances of success; and tips on creating a non-smoking self-image. In addition, they will receive a hypnosis audiotape to help with relaxing.

The deadline to register is April 14. Call the Wellness Center at X5569 to register.
