'Are You Ready?' website debuts for incoming students

Featuring wisdom from returning undergraduates, information about the Elon Core Curriculum and resources for moving to campus, "Are You Ready?" helps members of the Class of 2018 consider how to best prepare for success at the university.

New students to Elon University can now find a collection of information and resources on a special website created to help with the intellectual transition to a college campus.

“Are You Ready?”, a joint effort of several academic offices and Student Life programs, includes student testimonials on the Elon experience, information about Elon’s residential campus programming, details regarding orientation weekend and Elon 101, a robust explanation of Elon’s Core Curriculum and the importance of a liberal arts education, and resources linked to the 2014-15 Common Reading book, “The Boy Who Harnassed the Wind.”

“Are You Ready?” was designed to coordinate communication and preparation of incoming students in an effort to better reflect the intellectual life and opportunities awaiting them on campus. The work creates and communicates expectations with students in a way that promotes the engagement and community sought by university faculty and staff.

Among other features of the website are a television talk show streamed live online on scheduled dates, where key information is shared by current students, faculty and staff, and incoming students have an opportunity to ask questions.

The website also contains information about the Elon Honor Code, the Office of Residence Life, various student services, and deadlines for receipt of records and tuition payments.
