Elon's 'Little Free Library' officially chartered

Anyone from the community is welcome to borrow and return books - no library card required - from a renovated newspaper newstand in the heart of Elon University's campus.

Elon University’s “Little Free Library” is now an officially chartered member of the worldwide organization dedicated to promoting reading and literacy.

The campus library, located in an upcycled newspaper stand between Mooney and Alamance buildings, was added in early July to the world map at the organization’s website.

Every chartered library is represented by a house-shaped icon, and clicking on the icon gives information about the specific location. Elon’s library was unveiled in May and, like all free libraries, offers open access to a variety of reading materials.
