Elon Music Theatre graduate adds current role in "Wicked" tour to his extensive resume of Broadway, Off-Broadway shows including "Spring Awakening," "West Side Story" and the revival of "Rent."
Since getting cast in the original production of “Spring Awakening” on Broadway during the spring semester of his senior year, Matt Shingledecker has only continued his contributions to the Broadway and Off-Broadway community.
After playing roles such as Georg in the national tour of “Spring Awakening” (July 2008 – May 2010), Tony in the Broadway production of “West Side Story” (October 2010 – January 2011), and Roger Davis in the Off-Broadway revival of “Rent” (June 2011 – January 2012), Shingledecker has now taken on the role of Fiyero in the Munchkinland North American Tour of “Wicked.”
Shingledecker joined the touring company in February after finishing work on an underground show called “Dani Girl.” The Munchkinland tour, set to run through October 2015, has currently stopped in Edmonton, Alberta, for the month. In January 2015, Shingledecker will return to the North Carolina area as the tour makes a stop in Durham at the Durham Performing Arts Center (Jan. 7-25, 2015). Tickets go on sale Oct. 4.
