University Chaplain Jan Fuller will conduct a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Rich and Thompson Chapel at 207 East Elm Street in Graham, North Carolina. Boggs’ husband, Larry, has requested that donations be made to Hospice instead of sending flowers.

“Darlene was a very dedicated employee,” said Dave Worden, director of environmental services at the university. “We leaned on her to do things. She understood what ‘the Elon way’ was all about.”

Worden said that Boggs’ personality was “infectious” and that both co-workers and students found it easy to get along with her. “She cared. That’s it in a nutshell,” Worden said. “She cared about what she was doing. She cared that she was taking care of students.”

Boggs began her work at Elon in August 2006 and had nearly eight years of service with assignments that also included Danieley Center. Her sister, Cheryl Riley, also works at Elon in environmental services.

Larry Boggs’ address is 103 Andrews Avenue, Graham, NC 27253. Cheryl Riley’s address is P.O. Box 226, Alamance, NC 27201.
