Program Facts

The Elon Engagement Scholarship is designed for promising students who embody the spirit and values of the university. Elon's nationally recognized curriculum of engaged learning will inspire and challenge you to think big, stretch your imagination and learn more about yourself and the world.

Every first-year applicant will be a candidate for this $4,500 scholarship, which is renewable annually. In addition, each recipient will be given a one-time $2,000 grant to be used for an approved Elon Experience or project you design. That’s scholarship and program support totaling $20,000 over four years.

The university's signature program, the Elon Experiences, connects education to the real world by putting knowledge into practice. Learn more about the five experiences (study abroad, research, service, internships and leadership) in the Helpful Links section below.

Selection Process

All first-year applications will automatically be reviewed for the Elon Engagement Scholarship. To learn more and apply to Elon, visit the Apply Now Web page. Selection is based on your high school academic record, standardized test scores, and very important — your application essay. You have a choice of essay topics, so choose the one that best captures your interest. The essay is your opportunity to set yourself apart. Show your creativity or passion for something you have done or want to do; engage your imagination or dream of your future; tell us about an experience that has helped shape your outlook on life.

Note: Students are permitted to submit only one essay with their application. It is not possible to resubmit or revise your essay after it has been submitted.

Award Process

Recipients of the Elon Engagement Scholarship will be notified at the time of acceptance to Elon. This scholarship may not be combined with the Presidential Scholarship.
