What is covered?
Direct physical loss or damage to all real and university personal property in which the university has an insurable interest and that is not otherwise excluded. Examples of covered losses include theft of university property, fire, wind, lightning, hail, flood, or other environmental occurrence. This insurance provides for the replacement of like items that would return function to the same state as prior to the loss. If the replacement equipment is to be upgraded beyond the current equivalent level, the department requesting the equipment would be responsible for the difference in cost.
What is not covered?
The University recognizes that it has a responsibility to provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and guests, the university cannot accept responsibility for personal property loss and has no obligation to provide insurance for such property. Examples include, but are not limited to: personal vehicles, wallets, purses, cell phones, tablets and laptops, decorations, and other materials. Any personal property brought into the University is done so at the individual’s own risk.
