Brandy N.* Boone (Periclean Scholar 2009) hails from Burlington, NC and was a Periclean Scholar during her time at Elon. She will receive a degree in International Relations and an additional minor in Political Science

Alison J. Brooks (Periclean Scholar) is an Environmental Studies major with a strong interest in the overall development of developing nations. She has attended health disparities conferences that analyze the reasons for the differences between health risks among different races. During the summer of 2007, she worked on a minority obesity intervention research study at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Alison is a Watson Scholar who has studied abroad in Ghana. She hopes to pursue a Master’s Degree in International Public Health.

Amanda K. Brown (Periclean and Lumen Scholar) was born and raised in Columbus, OH. She is a Mathematics major, with an additional minor in Public Health Studies. She is also a Lumen Scholar and a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. As a Periclean, she serves as the group’s accountant and the Fundraising Committee chair. She has studied abroad in South Africa and Ghana. This summer, Amanda will conduct health behavior research as part of a National Institutes of Health grant that funds a Cancer Prevention Research Training Program. This Fall, she will enroll in the University of Texas School of Public Health (Houston Health Sciences Center) where she will pursue a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology, with a Global Health concentration. She received the Outstanding New Student Scholarship at UT School of Public Health which also qualifies her for in-state tuition!

Cheavanese Diedrick hails from Brooklyn, NY and will receive her undergraduate degree in Psychology.

Andie N. Diemer (Periclean Scholar) hails from Columbus, OH and plans to pursue work in magazine publishing in New York city. She has served as both a Periclean Scholar and the editor-in-chief of Elon’s student newspaper The Pendulum

Tracey Evans (Periclean Scholar) is from Durham, North Carolina and a Communications major. Aside from the Periclean Scholars, she is the Program and Projects Chair of the Omicron Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She studied abroad in Ghana during the 2008 Winter Term. After graduation, Tracey plans to pursue a career in film production.

William Bryce Little (Periclean Scholar) is  from Raleigh, North Carolina, and is studying Journalism and Cinematography. After graduation from Elon, Bryce hopes to join the Peace Corps and ultimately be a photojournalist for National Geographic.

Mica D. McCullough (Periclean Scholar) is from Nashville, Tennessee. Her major focus of study is Environmental Policy and her minors and scholastic interests include International Studies, Non-Violence Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies. She participates in the Sierra Club, the Invisible Children campaign, Students for Peace and Justice, and has served as a leader of the Sustainable Living Learning Community at Elon. She hopes to join the Peace Corps.

Kristen McDonald is an Elementary Education major from Fayetteville, NC.

Katherine Leigh (Katie) Meyer (Lumen Scholar) hails from Carmel IN, and majors in Political Science. A Leadership Fellow and Lumen Scholar, Katie is also the founder of Elon’s Invisible Children chapter. Katie is serving in Benin in  the Peace Corps, and plans to attend graduate/professional school after her two-year term ends.

Briana G. O’Neil (Periclean Scholar) is a Business Administration and Economics double major. She grew up in Medfield, Massachusetts, but recently moved to Cape Cod. In addition to the Periclean scholars program, Briana is involved in Business Fellows, the tri-Delta sorority and the club lacrosse team. After graduation she would like to work in the fields of finance and economics, and encourages any hiring employers to see her after the program.

Kelly A. Parshall (Periclean Scholar)* (in absentia) – Kelly Parshall is from Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. She is an English major with concentrations in creative and professional writing..

Sara P. Pasquinelli (Periclean Scholar)  was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At Elon, she has been involved with the Isabella Cannon Leadership program and is a Periclean Scholar. As a History and Anthropology double-major, she plans to work with a non-governmental organization geared towards education after graduation.

Keadrick S. Peters hails from Forestville, Maryland and will receive his undergraduate degree in Political Science. He has been an active member of the Multicultural Student Council and has served as the president of the Sigma delta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Keadrick received a Carrson Fellowship to SUNY-Albany, beginning this Fall. There, he will pursue a Ph.D. in English and Africana Studies

Elizabeth (Betsy) Sise comes from Annapolis, Maryland, but was born in Mauritius and lived in Mozambique. Betsy is an Elementary Education major with an additional minor in French. She has studied abroad in Niger and plans to teach abroad in an international school in either France or an African francophone country. She will enter the working world immediately following graduation.

Angela Sparrow is from Ithaca, New York, and is a Human Services major with minors in Exercise/Sport Science and Public Health. She has served as an officer for Habitat for Humanity, and an Orientation Leader. She is also a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, and is an opinions writer for The Pendulum. Upon graduation, she hopes to become either a children’s nutritionist or an occupational therapist.

Katherine (Katie) Strickland (Periclean scholar) is from Collierville, Tennessee, and will receive a degree in Sociology on May 22nd. Katie has been the leader of the Fundraising committee for Periclean Scholars and has focused on the Heifer International initiatives in the village of Sokode during her time as a Periclean. She studied in Ghana for a semester and aspires to work for Heifer or another international humanitarian aid organization after graduation.

Lauren Chaffee Taylor (Periclean and Lumen Scholar)  from Webster, NY, is a Periclean Scholar, Lumen Fellow and Honors Fellow who will receive a degree in International Women’s Health. She will pursue an internship this summer at the University of Pittsburg working on labor and genetic analgesics. This fall, Lauren will be attending graduate school at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where she will obtain a Master of Science degree in Sexual and Reproductive Health Research.

Sarah J. Vavreck (Periclean Scholar) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is a Human Services major with a minor in Psychology. She is a Periclean Scholar, and has been involved with Habitat for Humanity, the Human Services Society, Area Council, the Honors Program, and she volunteers regularly at the local Boys and Girls Club. Sarah will be enrolling in the counseling program at Wake Forest University in Fall 2010 to become an elementary school counselor.

Courtney Derrell Wynn is an International Studies major with a concentration in Africa and holds an additional minor in Non-Violence Studies. She hails from Springdale, MD.
