About Interactive Media’s Home

The Master of Arts in Interactive Media degree resides at the intersection of media content and technology. Creating excellent content remains the first priority, but content needs technology to reach audiences in today’s digital world.

The School of Communications has outstanding facilities and technology for student use. The Interactive Media program is located on the first floor of Long Building, adjacent to the School of Communications’ three other facilities. The space has been renovated expressly for the master’s degree program. It features an interactive media lab with Mac computers in a state-of-the-art lab environment, a media-rich classroom, individual and small-group editing suites, and an innovation space for advanced user testing and virtual/mixed reality development.

Graduate students will receive, as part of their tuition, a software package that includes all software that will be used in courses throughout the year-long program. Students may keep the software package upon graduation. On top of all of these resources, the Interactive Media department has a wide array of additional technologies available to assist students, from mobile phones to 360 degree camera mounts to virtual reality headsets.

The school will provide graduate students with free access to a variety of digital cameras, high-definition video cameras, as well as audio and lighting equipment and other media tools. Students also will have access to two television studios, a control room, a film screening theater, a fleet of cameras and tripods, audio editing bays and video editing bays.
