English (9-12)

Elon’s major in English with teacher licensure prepares candidates to teach English in grades 9-12. Upon successful completion of the program and all licensure requirements, graduates are eligible for a North Carolina secondary English teaching license. English majors take courses in the English Department and complete additional professional studies courses in Education and related fields.

Secondary Education Program Requirements and Courses

History (9-12)

Elon’s major in History with teacher licensure prepares candidates to teach History in grades 9-12. Upon successful completion of the program and all licensure requirements, graduates are eligible for a North Carolina secondary History and/or Comprehensive Social Studies teaching license. History majors take courses in the Department of History and Geography and complete additional professional studies courses in Education and related fields.

Mathematics (9-12)

Elon’s major in Mathematics with teacher licensure prepares candidates to teach Math in grades 9-12. Upon successful completion of the program and all licensure requirements, graduates are eligible for a North Carolina secondary Mathematics teaching license.┬áMath majors take courses in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and complete additional professional studies courses in Education and related fields.

Elon’s B.S. in Music Education prepares candidates to teach music in grades K-12. Upon successful completion of the program and all licensure requirements, graduates are eligible for a North Carolina K-12 Music Education teaching license. Music education majors take courses in the Department of Music and complete additional professional studies courses in Education and related fields.
