Exercise is Medicine on Campus LogoVision

To enable all community members across Elon’s campus to discover, share, and adopt the principles of Exercise is Medicine® in order to promote chronic disease prevention, and improve mental and physical well-being.

Mission

Elon University’s Exercise is Medicine® On Campus (EIM-OC) initiative aims to foster collaborative relationships throughout the Elon community to create sustainable change to the physical activity culture. Our mission is to make physical activity more prominent, accessible, and valued by and for all, through education and policy change.

Objectives

  • To make physical activity assessment and promotion a standard in clinical care, connecting student, faculty, and staff health care providers with evidence-based physical activity resources that are appropriate for people of all abilities.
  • To alter the status quo at Elon, both in and out of the classroom, with a goal of reducing sedentary behavior and increasing physical activity by providing safe, effective, and individualized movement opportunities to all campus and community members through education and provision of resources.
  • To link together the ongoing efforts of other on-campus and local initiatives that share a similar vision to EIM, providing a centralized hub for all physical activity promotion and engagement efforts.
  • To encourage a lifelong love of physical activity in all community members.
