Homecoming at Elon is a wonderful opportunity to see some familiar faces and meet new ones. Honors Homecoming is an annual event so please put it on your calendars! Homecoming 2017 is November 3-5.
The Coffee Klatch is a great opportunity for the intellectual engagement for all Elon students. Each semester, students gather after select campus events for coffee, dessert and stimulating conversation. Fall 2017 Coffee Klatch events will be posted soon.
Honors Peer Mentors of the Year
Every year, students nominate their peers for Honors Peer Mentor of the Year to recognize the “veteran” Honors student who has gone above and beyond in mentoring their first year student. Past award winners are:
- 2016: Maurice “Bear” Tosé
- 2015: Mary Rouse and Nicholas Massey
- 2014: Michelle Reissig and Claire Mayo
Turkey and Italy Blogs
Both Turkey and Italy have been cultural crossroads for millennia. This Honors Fellows course open to first year students uses city and landscape as classroom, encouraging students to explore one of these two countries as a site of historical and religious significance and to investigate the contemporary relevance of the region to East and West. Read the recent student blogs for a glimpse into what past students have learned at sites such as the Hagia Sophia, ancient cisterns, the Grand Bazaar, Theodosian Walls, the ruins of Ephesus in Turkey, and St. Peters Basilica and the Vatican, the Roman Coliseum, The Valley of Temples in Sicily, and the canals of Venice in Italy.
