What is the difference between the Elon Engagement Scholarship and the Elon Engagement Grant?

The Elon Engagement Scholarship is awarded to students as they enroll at Elon. This is a renewable annual scholarship. Students are referred to their Admissions offer regarding the annual award and GPA required to maintain the scholarship.

The Elon Engagement Grant is a one-time financial grant that can be used for any Experiential Learning opportunity the student designates. Experiential Learning opportunities include study abroad, service-learning, leadership development, internships, and undergraduate research.

When should I apply for my grant?

Students should apply for the grant the semester before the experience is set to occur. If a student plans to study abroad in winter term, students should apply for the grant in the fall. If a student is planning on doing undergraduate research in the summer, they should apply in the spring.

What should I put in the grant request form?

Provide brief yet detailed information about the experience. Be sure that the experience covers an Elon experience for study abroad, internship, research, service-learning, or leadership. Include the funding amount requested. Lastly, be sure to include the correct term for which the grant will be used.

When will I receive my grant funds?

Per the Office of Financial Aid, students do not receive their funds until 10 days prior to the start of the experience.
