This allows students to bring their personal experiences and diverse academic perspectives to the conversation.

The “It Takes a Village Project”

This Living Learning Community connects closely with Elon’s “It Takes a Village” Project, locally known as the Village Project. This is a PK-5 tutoring initiative spearheaded by the Center for Access and Success on the campus of Elon University.

The Village Project works collaboratively with Elon tutors, Alamance County teachers, and principals in an effort to improve the academic attainment of elementary grade students in the 12 Title I schools from surrounding Alamance County communities. The Village design focuses heavily on academic outcomes, instructional materials, attendance, quality of instructors, parental involvement and other enriching opportunities.

Volunteering with the Village Project could also lead to earning one of your Elon Experiential Learning Requirements (ELRs) in service: https://www.elon.edu/u/academics/core-curriculum/experiential-learning/
